The People’s Bank of China said Wednesday it extended and expanded a currency swap agreement with the central bank of Malaysia. The swap agreement has been expanded to CNY180 billion ($28.6 billion) from CNY80 billion previously, the PBOC said in a statement.

The PBOC has signed a series of similar swap agreements with various countries, part of an effort to promote international use of the Chinese currency.
